I don't know what idiot at Domino's Pizza came up with this idea, but I was taking out my garbage can and picking up the newspaper yesterday morning when I saw a Domino's plastic cup with a lid on it lying on my front lawn.

I thought, "Argh, some asshole thinks it's OK to throw his empty Domino's cup in my front yard." I went over, picked it up and put it in the garbage can.

On to the next door neighbor's house. I pick up his paper and take out his garbage for him, because ...

It’s been a very busy few weeks at Cigarsandpipes.com as we switched over the web site to our new hosting company. Due to traffic on the site (thanks!), the server we were on just couldn’t keep up (I think it must have been a Commodore 64 or something...) so we switched to a much bigger company; it loads super fast and is working great!

We just uploaded a whole bunch of new Radice pipes, and I have to say they are just awesome… especially at the price they are offered. As you know, Radice ...

Has anyone had a problem with their neighbors fence?

How did you resolve the problem?

Our neighbor, whose house is about 15 feet from ours, installed a 6 foot cedar privacy fence in the side yard between our houses and a 4 foot decorative fence in the front yard. Unfortunately, she has a permit from the town and everything appears to be done by code. The fence blocks one window that directly faces her house, which is OK with us. Unfortunately it also blocks two other windows that are not OK. ...

So I just picked up what I believe to be an old Savinelli Punto Oro, numbered shape 1011 EX--a classic Billiard shape. It's a beauty.

Somewhere in the last few years I came to believe that four-digit Savinelli's are dated to pre-1965 (excluding the non-pareil and dry system lines). Yet when I went searching this evening to confirm this, I couldn't find any sort of confirmation on line.

So, you guys that have been doing this for a while, when do the four-digit Savinelli's date back ...

I've decided that I would like to venture into the old tradition of rope tobacco. My finances however have been tight and I can't simply dive into it. I have read so far that G&H offer the best and most variant supply ...

If you really enjoy a certain type and would like to cellar some would it be better to buy multiple tins and store those, or to buy the large vacuum sealed amounts in the pound size and just jar them? I understand that its probably much more financially viable to go with bulk, but I must admit a large stack of similar tins is quite pleasant on the eyes. I picked up pipe smoking while in Iraq as a way to decongest from the stress and rigors of deployment, and it has become an activity close to my heart which I do not see myself parting with for at least the next 75 years or so.

I'm sure it's a long shot but I thought I'd post anyway. If anyone here gets a Google Wave invite and has one to spare I'd love to get one.

If you don't know what it is it's worth checking out. I think it will be the next best thing in online communication. It's currently invite only (starting today) much like how they rolled out gmail.

Made a funny and practical discovery recently here. I had put a 1/4 lb of tobacco in one of my airtight resealable tins (courtesy of Bed Bath and Beyond) with a moist napkin to remoisturize. It was breaking-apart dry. By accident I left it atop the clothesdryer when my wife set it to run. By the end of the cycle- completely humidified!! Total time 0:35!! I guess the heat from the dryer sped up the process. Pretty cool!

I seem to be making a habit of signing up for pipe forums at the moment. Thought I would add this one to the list. Looks like there is some useful info to be had here.

I'm Tony, a 53 year old snuffer and pipe smoker from Hull, Yorkshire. These days with smoking bans in force I only ever smoke a pipe at home but my snuff is always with me. I've been using both for over 35 years, pipes since I was 16 and snuff since I was 18.

My usual preference for pipe tobacco is Virginia flakes, with ...

Would like to say hello. My first pipe purchased 3 days ago is a medium sized. The mouthpiece drops down to a rusticated dark burgandy colored bowl. I am starting with lighter aromatics until I get used to pipe smoking. Today I will be trying the Brandy Buck Or the Apricot Brandy. For the last couple days I have been smoking on a lighter aromatic to get a little used to it first.

I look foreward to learning more about pipe smoking and sharing my experiences as I learn more as well.

For the others on this board who are aromatic smokers, I've found that if there's a ghost lurking in a pipe from a previously smoked aromatic tobacco (but also including Latakia and others), a few bowls of Lane's 1Q seems to do the trick in getting the pipe back to being "tasteless". If anyone has other suggestions, feel free to follow up to this.

I've been intrigued by the pipe being smoked by the gent in this Dorthea Lange photo for some time and decided to post here and see if anyone has any idea of the possible make, etc. of that pipe? I'm looking for one of that same vintage,.. same style...etc.

Here's the photo and the pipe in the photo in question...
