Allright Folks,

Some love em' and some hate em'. Of course I'm talking about board ranks. On Knox it was from "Private" to "Yoda" and everything in between. As far as I'm concened they're nothing but fun but some here DO feel differently.... For the record we already have one assigned to Greg Pease as our official "Dark Lord"....

It's time to put it to an official vote!

Ranks: Yea or Nay

Best,

Dock

Dock is very active in the online pipe community as a whole and will bring much to the position and the board. I'll still have the Admin title on my profile for a bit while we get him settled into the cockpit but I am officially resigning from that position as of this post.

Within the next hour or so I'm going to be changing the look of Brothers of Briar. When we had requests for merchandise we ran into the problem of our current logo not working well with printed items. It's a beautiful design that was graciously donated to us but when put on something like a t-shirt it wasn't easily read. So we had another logo created that reflected our current board and that was print ready.

After the new theme goes up I'll probably tweak with some things over the next ...

PIFs would be a nice addition. I am a member of another forum in which members give PIFs to newbies that are new to the hobby. They are usually serviceable items of ok quality, but adequate for giving them an idea of what they may like. This would be nice as a total newbie with no idea of where to get started.

The best thing about that is that it creates a real sense of community, and helps people who have shown an interest in the hobby keep from getting discouraged and quitting. Also, ...

One feature that I really appreciate in the Smoker's Forum is the ability to preview a thread. When you place your cursor over a thread topic in the index, you can read about 3 lines of the first post. It's very helpful to get an idea if the topic is what you think it's about.

I don't know how they do that, or what the technical name for it is, but I like it. Is that something we can do here?

Your friends list will just make it easier to do things like PM your buddies.

Your foes list will actually block all of their posts from your view. When they make a post you will see the following instead:

It has been brought up a couple of times so I thought I'd make a post about it.

You may notice down where it says who's online that every so often a bot will be listed. It may say Google, MSN or some other search entity. These are just the search engine's indexing bots. They crawl the site to update their index. So they are harmless.

You'd think with as many names the tech industry comes up with they'd be able to have different names for things so there wasn't as much confusion.

I would just like to say that it is nice to see another board come to be that is not based upon a retail influence. I don't blame the retail outlets for creating a board for their websites or with the same name as their stores. I would probably do it if I owned a retail outlet. it is a great marketing tool. The problem that I have with it is in the way it ends up getting moderated, in that it is economically driven.
