Gentlemen,

I often enjoy cigarillos, and especially like to smoke them while driving when a regular cigar (or a pipe, of course) is not always the best option. I have tried just about everything easily available over the past years, and always keep at least a few boxes/packs in the humidor (yes, I even store the European 'dry cured' cigarillos in there). Currently, my favorites are:

La Flor Dominicana Daiquiri (natural) 3 1/2 x 28 (these, actually, are long filler)

Hello Brothers,

My father-in-law just passed on to me an copper-lined humidor cabinet. It has a strange humidifier on it. He told me that it contained (or once contained) whale baleen in it to keep the levels right. I was told if I were to soak this humidifier in water for a few hours, slide it back in place, and it should be good to go. I wanted to know what you guys thought of it.

Unless you guys told me otherwise, I was going to just buy a humidifier for it and keep the old ...

If you get cigar catalogues, you've probably seen these: Nub cigars. They're supposed to be a short cigar designed to taste like the "sweet spot" of a longer cigar, where all the flavors start to meld and develop.

Have any of you tried these? How are they? I'm intrigued, especially because I much prefer a shorter cigar.

Also: how long do they smoke? (I ask because the CI catalogue says the smoking times are closer to those of full-size cigars... denser roll, maybe?)

Like most people, I keep a few high quality cigars in my humidor, but for the day to day smoke, I have found it hard to beat a "Cuban Reject" Robusto for hand rolled Nicaraguan goodness at an affordable price.
Whoa!! This is one of the wildest cigars I've ever smoked

I wandered into a little hole-in-the-wall cigar joint near my home that has a nice selection of cigars and drifted around, waiting for something to catch my eye. I spied a lone, half empty box of Cabaiguan cigars among a case full of Tatuaje's and knew that was the one.
Smoked an Ashton VSG corona gorda this afternoon. $12.50 retail. The initial light revealed instantly the signature Fuente taste, very similar to a Don Carlos. Once the cigar calmed down and warmed up a bit the wrapper began to show itself. I was a little disappointed as this really was no better and not especially different from a Don Carlos with the exception of a bit more pepper that was consistently present and a noticeable vegetal taste in the last 1/3.
Dayum!! What a great smoke! I've been hearing a lot about the Illusione line and particularly the Holy Lancero, so while I was out and about running errands today I meandered into Tobacco Road and grabbed one. The Holy Lancero is a medium smoke but full of earthy roasted flavors. I found a lot of coffee and herb notes and eventhough it's not a maduro there was some maduro-like sweetness, but it was very subtle. Often cigars that fit the description I just gave turn out to be a bit soft and kind ...

Well I've got my humidor set up and I opted to change from an analog hygrometer to digital hygrometer/temp gauge (Western Caliber III). I've been reading not to let your humidor reach temperatures of above 74 degrees to avoid tobacco beetle infestation. Do the senior cigar members here subscribe to this standard? I'm just looking to keep my stash from being eaten.

Just got me wondering if any pipe smokers have a pipe (pipes) that they purchased just because it's a Dunhill or another big name pipe? Are there pipes out there that cost less then a Dunhill and smoke just as good or even better?

I also wonder about tobaccos. Do you buy blends from certain Names over others , that may taste beter, simply because of "who" they are?

I have read the post on rehydrating pipe tobacco. Anyone have any tips on rehydrating cigars? Would putting them in a storage container with some of the moisture beads work?

I went to Mississippi last weekend for a funeral on the wife's side of the family. One of her cousins noticed that I was smoking a pipe and asked if I liked cigars. When I told him that I occassionaly smoked them he proceeded to give me a large plastic humidor (the kind you see at the end of a bar with four shelves) ...

I thought I would see what you guys think of this humidor!

I've outgrown my 20ct Humidor, and have a bunch of cigars sitting in cigar boxes with little humidor packs; so, rather then just go up to a 75-100ct humidor, I figure I will jump up a couple sizes...since I will probably get there eventually anyhow.

What do you think, is there a better choice for upgrading?

PS. I know this probably wont actually hold 300, but 150-200 would probably be more then I should ever need...I hope.

I just received a combined large order from Mike's Cigars and JR Cigars to take advantage of the free or low cost samples that go with certain brands. Enough for one cigar a day for a year.

So far I am very disappointed with the 3 versions of Don Thomas and the Trinidad natural wrapper. Way too mild and not enough flavor. I will post my reactions to Partagas, Fonseca varieties, Hoyo de Monterrey varieties, Maria Mancini, CAO varieties, Oliveros, and Mayorga natural as they are smoked.
