There is no age discrimination either overt or covert.I know I encountered it in
the private sector when I was 48.The Federal Gov. is cool about that.
We hired a guy 74 years old as a new custodian last year,Korean War vet.....
his wife and kids were driving him mad at home so he goes out and gets a job.

I'm starting to think I'm under paid. Damn fed jobs pay quite a bit more than my state.

Go for it.....take the test or tests and get on a list.Have some irons in the fire just
incase something happens.You can't beat the security and benefits,a guy who just applies himself can do well.

Is that how people get hired on at the post office? I didn't see any post office jobs there.

It's pretty hard to get a Postal job nowadays unless you are skilled in a maintenance craft.They have a hiring freeze on....the service is contracting
due to the economy among other things.
16 years ago I just happened to be sitting next to a man at an AA meeting
who told me about how to get the job I have now.I went to take the test and there
were several hundred guys there trying for 8 jobs,the door opens and out comes
the guy to give us the test.........it was the guy who sat next to me in the meeting.
That was the hand of God,I doubt that not.
