Some 30+ years ago my mother caught me with matches - made me light every match in the house as punishment

Remember her leaving the room, allowing me to burn piles at a time

Most fun I ever had in the house Smile

another thing to do with your paper matches: search google for "Paper Match Rocket"

About 5 years ago I was stopped by Security at the O'Hare airport
with a box of 250 Kitchen Matches which I intended to take with me
on a flight to Va."You can't take these things on the plane!" he said.
"I'm a pipe smoker" says I.He took them away from me. Mad

Just recently did I try matches. All I could conveniently get were the Diamond Strike-Anywhere's. Awesome for home...can't beat the control of the flame.

I find the quality of matches have really gotten bad. So many are duds or go right out after lighting. I only use them now if my Zippos runs out and I need to get some until I get home.

Don't drag the tip completely across the box, light it right at the strips edge quickly and pull it away. For some reason alot of the cheaper matches you can completely rub the sulfur off and it won't light at all if you do a complete drag across the box.

Heck, I just bought a package of fifty books of paper matches at Walgreen's for two buck and they work fine. Not for outdoors, of course.

I'm told I missed the "golden era of matches" when Vespa's become unavailable here in the states.
