Hi all! New pipe smoker here. I've been lurking on the forums for a few weeks. Nice community you have here!

I used to smoke a cigarette every now and then, mainly when I was in college. A pack would go stale before I could smoke them all, though. Very casual smoker. Never really cared for cigarettes that much, it was just something to do before I discovered cigars. Fell in love with cigars, and have been smoking one every few days for a year or so. Then I started researching pipes...oooh shiny! I geek out over all the different types of tobaccos, blends, and cuts. Then there's all the different types of pipes and pipe materials. In retrospect, it makes cigar smoking look rudimentary (not that I don't still love my stogies!).

In the last month, I've bought 15 or so different tobacco blends, a cross-section of different types of tobaccos from different manufacturers. I'm trying to experience a little of everything before settling down on any favorites. I love the variety, so I doubt I'll ever be content with just a couple blends. Very Happy

I've got some heavy burley blends, many Va/Pers, heavy latakia blends (Pirate Kake! YAAR!), an oriental, some aromatics, and I even picked up some Captain Black and Prince Albert to round out the experience (both great smokes, btw). So yeah, I'm pretty open minded at this point.

So far, I think I have more TAD than PAD. My first pipe was a Savinelli Carmella Zulu briar. I just got my second one in the mail yesterday, a Peterson 317 P-lip rustic briar. I also picked up a few corncobs to try out and give away to friends.

Anyway, what would an intro be without pictures? Very Happy

My Savinelli Carmella Zulu:

And me looking supremely sophisticated with my pipe (notice the raised eyebrow!): Razz

Welcome to the forum, it is nice and friendly place indeed. You happen to live in a nice place, I remember Fort Worth when I was visiting Texas many years ago.

Welcome, and always a good start to know how to post pictures! (we all love them) Nice looking Sav you have there. That almost oval bowl shape is so indicative of several of their styles. I've had a few over the years and all good smokers.
