This Saturday at Boswell's sounds good. What should I bring? I have a few hundred tins that folks could try (I'll bring only a dozen or so), though I plan to be sampling Boswells myself.

Great - I'll bring you that tin of Old Dublin I promised you!

I stopped by Boswells today, we're all set. They have a coffee maker upstairs, so we are welcome to that. I'll bring a couple dozen donuts, maybe some Christmas cookies from Mrs. Riff-Raff and some unusual tobacco blends to sample.

The pipe wall was looking pretty slim after Christmas, but Dan was busy this morning making more.

I'll see everyone on Saturday, travel safe.

Well, I guess we'll meet the mystery pipe man on Saturday. I bet we'll be able to tell who it was in person! <g>
When I was working in Providence, I had to run to Sams for some restaurant supplies. The cashiers were giggling as I checked out and I asked why. They said they loved my accent. My accent????

Oh yeah! That was me! I asked if they had any pipes that looked like #46 on the bulldog and rhodesian list on the gallery of their website...and if they didn't was it possible they could fashion one.
The woman I talked to was super sweet and she was talking to someone named Dan....of course I assume it was Dan Boswell. She said they would have plenty of pipes to choose from and if they did happen to fashion one that was similar to # 46 it wouldn't be exactly the same.

I said BULLSHIT make me one exactlly the same! Lol of course I didn't I understand that the briar often dictates the design of the pipe....but that #46 is sooo nice.

Barring anything crazy that pops up I'll see you guys there!

Great, I hope it works out. If it doesn't and you want me to send you some camera pix of available bulldog/rhodesians, just call the cell on Saturday.

I just got home, what a great day. Lots of pipes to admire and many great tobaccos to try. Myself, Lestrout, Boxerbuddy(Ryan) and radio809 (Jim, PipesMagazine forum) were in attendance. It was a real pleasure to meet some internet folks in person. Ryan and Bill each went home with new Boswell pipes I'm sure you'll get to see soon.

I'm loading pictures now and will post them shortly. I appreciate the drive Les and Ryan had to make, thanks for the effort and I hope you each had safe travels home.

JM, Dan and Gail at Boswells were very gracious and the upstairs lounge was just wonderful. Gail kept us supplied with fresh coffee all day (10 - 4 PM!) and even opened their meeting room was packed with terrific pipe memorabilia from JM's collection.

I stocked up on Magnum and some Dunhill MM965 (Les had a 4-yr old tin to try!). Bill and Ryan each bought new pipes, I'll let them show their wares!

Hey Al, thx so much for taking the time to set this up. I had a great time meeting you guys....good people, good conversation, nice pipes, great tobacco. I just got home and I'm too lazy to post a pic of my new pipe, but rest assured I'll post it tomorrow.

P.S.....its Brian LOL

Dammit, I kept calling Jim, "Bill" for some reason! Must have been the tobacco overload, sorry! I'm glad you made it back safely. Definitely post pix of the new pipe, a very handsome Boswell I hope will serve you well.

JM is quite an opinionated guy, huh? I guess four decades of making pipes will do that.

Thanks for bring your Perriti (sp?) samples. I'll definitely be visiting that shop in Boston, you piqued my interest to visit fo the fist time - I'll PM you when we go and we'll smoke together again.

In addition to the Perriti sample, I also smoked and loved Dunhill MM 965 and GLP's Chelsea morning. Both will get added to my inventory. I'm enjoying some more Chelsea morning right now, goes great with a cup of coffee. My last sample bowl will be added shortly!

That dog was a great choice, just the right touches of rustification for my tastes and a strong grain pattern. The good news is with that bowl top and stem, it will still look that good 20 years from now. A very handsome pipe, enjoy it!
