Wow. Maybe you wanna stay quit then?

I took a month off from meat a few years ago. My experience was similar when I ate it again.

puros, you must be broken.

i once lived down the street from a doctor, so I am qualified

Here is my prescription: A bottle of bourbon, a comfortable chair, and a good movie or three, a couple of loaded pipes, and a nice relaxing evening.

Failing that, Read some Arthur Conan Doyle, and maybe a MacArthur Autobiography.

If that doesn't work, let me know, and I will pm you my address. We can find a good home for your abandoned pipes.

No even if I never smoked again I probably only have 3-4 more pipes tops that I would part with. That Olivewood/Meer Mr C was nice enough to gift me and a couple Stanwells.
Everything else was either gifts from the wife/kids or dead friends. Oh and one Mikem gave me in a Secret Santa that he made, and a Jap pipe Ol'Dawg gave me.
And I doubt I'd pull the classic "sell all my tobacco and kick myself in the ass in 2 months".

I'm just baffled at how bad it tasted. I know cigs taste bad from other times I'd make it a week or two without smoking them. But my pipes? The sweets, n sours, and the creme, where'd that go?
I wasn't being dramatic, I'm really at a loss.

It's spring. That humity change is wrecking havoc. I am taking the opportunity to smoke up some of those old, partial tins laying about.

What was it you tried to smoke? Right after a meal?

You've been through a bit lately, what with getting hurt, being medicated for a while, not smoking, then the weather changes, etc.. Start with something mild, a tried and true favorite in a pipe you know it works well with, and in the morning so food isn't messing with your tastebuds. Good pipeful, cup of coffee. If it still sucks, take a break, come back to it in a couple of weeks.

This is interesting. Whenever I go on a "fast," the eventual return to pipe smoking tastes absolutely wonderful. Medicine, I've heard, can alter taste, but what else tastes different? If nothing, and the tobacco still tastes bad, I would give it up. And this is coming from someone who probably wouldn't give it up even with a cancer diagnosis. I have my own cure for terminal disease. If it doesn't taste good, to hell with it. That's the main reason I smoke, although I do like the buzz. But there are simpler ways to get vitamin N.

Seems like most of these guys are scrambling for the cure to your madness, which is kinda weird if you think about it. Fella manages to quit smoking and all his so-called friends can do is find a way to bring him back into the fold. Whatever happened to "smoke what you like, and like what you smoke"? If you don't like smoking, who am I to judge? I say hoard all your stuff and rub it in. Maybe once a year or so post a video of you throwing a pipe in a wood chipper. Twisted Evil

I've actually experienced this very thing before. My tastes can change with the seasons and sometimes after a break. Here's what I do when this happens:

1. Try a different type of blend. If I was smoking just VAs and I come back and hate them, I switch to English.
2. Smoke a cigar. Over the last few years, I've gone on swings from cigars to pipes. Back and forth I've gone when I taste a shift.

I hope one of those options helps you out, PB!

I'm taking Donations, PB. Keep me in mind.

Seriously, do what you feel you need to do. Maybe change blends (965) or just give it some time. Your brothers are behind you, no matter what happens.

If you want a change of smoke, pick up a pouch of Captain Black White. It'll leave you wanting a stronger blend with more of a tobacco flavor, making your regular blends taste that much better then next time you try them. Laughing

I have to keep all my Jap pipes seperate from my Kraut and Wop pipes because, you know...
