I am waist-deep in alligators at the moment. So it may be a couple days before I post the pics.

But thank you very much! sunny

So I get this box in the mail. Name looks familiar, but I couldn't place it at first, looking at the return address. Sorry, I am bad with names. Note inside and the most amazing work. It will have a place of honor here in the ham shack. Dusty, but a place of honor none the less. I tried several pipes on the pipe holder for size. You can see that the Ruthenberg churchwarden really does not fit. But that's ok. All the others do. And you mentioned the Heeschen sitting in it. The engraving on the .30-06 casing is extraordinary. Mike thought it might be too busy. It's not. It's perfect. I am flabbergasted by your generosity. The time spent must have been a lot. Far more than I am worthy of, I would have thought. Thank you many times over! sunny

The engraving: "Carlos", "BOB", "CQ K9ZM CQ", a dog bone and the name "JOSH".

That's the FT-2000D with the Network Sciences 3kHz roofing filter.

I do kind of miss the old days with the warmth, and glow of tubes in the dark. The only tubes left in the shack produce a bunch of heat, but being ceramic, they don't glow.

Just giving you crap, Brother! I nostalgically like the older rigs, but enjoy the size and weight reduction of the newer stuff too. Not to mention being easier to power - no plate supply for the Tubes.

The FT-2000 is a very nice rig and should serve you well for years to come. My Yaesu FT-920 was a great rig for many years, but isn't working right now and the board that is out is no longer being made. I'm keeping my eyes open for a parts-rig....
