On a completely different thing...is it just me, or is it like really subdued around here? Not necessarily this thread, but the whole site. Or maybe it IS just this thread. I don't know. It just seems like nuthin' is going on...flatline...

Sleep Sleep Sleep

Now let's see...how can we perk things up a little?

I don't know... might be that people are feeling a little more lethargic in the winter time... I'm certainly still trying to add some interesting stuff to the boards

Hey! Keep it down, you two. Some of us are trying to be somber and morose here. Sad

I haven't had much to report. Ordnance is on the way, along with PAD & TAD acquisitions Very Happy

I'll go get another cuppa, and try to pull my weight around here.

I've posted interesting things in the field and stream section, that counts as doing something, right? Because if it doesn't you might as well do me a mercy and finish me off, I fell four damn times climbing that thing.

PostSubject: Re: SKYDUMP - January Bombing Squadron Mission   Thu Jan 17, 2013 2:39 pm

I think my mountain climbling days are past. Now, some beach combing is all I crave for outdoor plodding along. I still get in at least a 4 hour shot in my shop each day in the Winter, even though it's in the 30's F. out there and I haven't bothered to replace the propane tank to turn the heater on yet. I dress for it and it's pretty much OK.

I've been working on two project lines...one is a contest of sorts with Lesath (a master bladesmith if you didn't know that) to produce the most 'interesting' piece from a Damascus blank he provided. How could I say no to that? The other avenue is a series of 6 or so carving knives...wood carving as opposed to a leg of lamb, etc. At one time I found a really sweet block or Osage Orange wood and sectioned some of it into smaller knife handle shapes...awaiting some steel for completion, when I found the right thing. Well, the right thing came about and I've got 3 of the knives very nearly done and three sitting there...pondering. The blades vary...Mora/Frosts High Carbon laminated steel (Sweden)...Lauri PTX High Carbon Progressively Tempered steel (Finland)...Brusletto High Carbon (Norway)...maybe I'll even get crazy and add a Roselli Ultra High Carbon (Finland) blade. Most of the blades are between 2 1/2" and 3 1/4" in length...the handes about 4".

I pick the blades for their shapes and the steel used...ultra high carbon, laminated, progressively tempered, etc. Something that I find "interesting" and unique and that represents high end function but at a modest price. I'm knid of obsessive about two things..."found objects" turned into things of amazement...and low to modest cost materials turned into super high function. These knives will represent the latter.

I'll post a few pics when it's appropriate.

This is going to be (Insert Rob's "Excellent" here). The fallout will reign down upon your childrens children...ya know barring them not selling out and all.

H'mm, I wonder if one of these months we will all decide on the same tobacco to bomb with and cause a national shortage of that particular product!

I seem to recall quite a bit of Borkum Riff hitting our first target, creating widespread shortages and thus, angry throngs of disappointed aficionados of that quality blend...

I'm sure the angels recorded that as a collective + for each who helped cause that

My load may be skimpy this month boys but it'll be from the heart. Had to replace the alternator on the car. Only took 4 hours laying under the car to get it done. It was a breeze. Twisted Evil

Method of transport selected - check
Carefully selected explosives - check
Carefully packed incendiaries - check
Leaving the option of increasing payload - check

I'm doing up something fairly, um...unique for this round. But I keep running into problems that are making it take longer. I still think it should be ready though. Heh, heh. This is gonna be astonishing to say the least.
