Ladies and gentlemen, I purchased a few pipes the other day and the one i really wanted was the knute pictured below. It's missing a stem which is one of the reasons I wanted it. I like to tinker, so I figured I would buy an acrylic stem, fit it, and then bend it. In the pictures of the auction I didn't notice some flaws with the acrylic attached to the briar. It has a few small chunks taken out of it. I need your help. I'm trying to figure out what to use to fill those holes. I was considering using super glue to fill the holes let it dry then give the whole acrylic part a light sanding with some high grit sand paper then buff it with a plastic polish. Does anyone have any other recommendations that would be better or easier. I appreciate your help.

Some kind of clear finish might fill clearer/better than superglue if they are large holes. Nail polish or some kind of urethane finish might do the trick, but I think you are on the right track.

Clear nail polish was going to be my recommendation as well. Best of luck however you choose to proceed.

If you go with nail polish though, give it WEEKS to dry. It'll get a thin skin in minutes, but under that it'll still be goo.

Your usual strategy would be to blob it up above the level you want it to dry/shrink down to, then work it down to level once it's thoroughly dry (see above).

FWIW
