PostSubject: Rough Couple Months   Thu May 23, 2013 10:38 pm

So, last time was here, things where going great. They still are, but after a rough 2-3 months. My older brother was shot and killed, and i met my real mom for the first time ever at his funeral. So that was surreal. I've changed majors and schools. Im going to the University of Montana in September for Diesel Technology, but ill still stick with EMS as a part time gig., but im taking a break right now to just..breathe. I got new tobacco today, but i havent tried it yet because of my cold. I'll try to be on here a bit more, so i can post a review. Miss you guys

Hang in there PiperCub, better times are right around the corner, but in the meantime you still have your pipes to help make it across the bumps in the road.

PostSubject: you guys are epic   Fri May 24, 2013 11:14 am

if you guys could give me the names of new tobaccos to try, that would help, also, the name of the new baccy my dad bought me is called Black satin, i think it's a house blend. I'm super excited for school to start though, the anticipation is killing me

Some that I think are great tobaccos are: Orlick Golden Sliced; Dunhill Flake; McClelland's Christmas Cheer 2012; Escudo. These are mild and relatively sweet. Happy smoking. Very Happy

Hang in there, Teej.

Have no idea what you're into as far as tobacco...if you like aromatics, Rob's a good one to ask. I usually suggest people in the "not sure" category to try Frog Morton original, SG Best Brown Flake, and GLP Union Square. It covers the basics outside the realm of aromatics that will let you know if you like Latakia, mellow Virginia or bright Virginia. Beyond the Burley, which has a tough learning curve in its natural state, there's the Orientals, but they are a vast and wide topic of which I've barely scratched the surface.

There you have it, from the Weiss side of things.

Given I have an aversion to it in general (it causes me physical pain most of the time) I'm not qualified to say.

I do like Orlik Golden Sliced and Rattray's Hal o' The Wynd quite a bit, though. 🤷

Greg Pease tends to use the right amount of Perique in his stuff for most people, I'd go down that route if you really wanted to try something serious, yet not as overpowering as say, Escudo.

Here I am, giving advice in a realm I ought not to. Laughing

I think most of that is aromatic bric-a-brac. Not my thing.

Also not nuts over Tolkien stuff in general...kind of makes me a heretic in a few realms, but t'is what ti'tis.

Cool

Just read your post PiperCub....sorry for your loss. You sound like a sturdy, sensible young man with plans. What this country so desperately needs...so hang in there...you've got friends here and all the support we can muster. Relatively new to this forum, but from what I've seen...these are the people you want to be around (to quote Kyle). This is America...not what you read about.
