Hi there everyone!

I introduced myself on this forum a fair while ago ( I'm Justin, 23, from Johannesburg South Africa), expressing my love for pipe smoking and asking you all on advice for kicking the cigarette habit. Well, I've finally done it!After smoking for 11 years, I haven't had a cigarette in over 2 weeks, and am happily enjoying puffing many a bowl over the course of the day.

It is gonna be great to get to know all of you, and chat about all things PAD and TAD.

I'm currently smoking some Davidoff Flake Medallions in a Peterson Limerick 80S.

Have a wicked day!

Congrats! IMO if you can go 2 weeks without then you can go a lifetime if that's your desire. It's been over 40 years since I smoked a cigarette but take heed to this warning. Even with this long hiatis from cigarettes sometimes my desire to feel the cool methol from a Salem in the back of my throat and down into my chest is really hard to resist at times. I loved cigarettes and gave them up because my wife asked me to. It was a wedding gift to her. I promised her I wouldn't smoke another cigarette until we parted. Been married over 40 years and still keeping all my vows. Smile

Oh BRAVO, very well done on beating the ol'cig's, aint easy is it, even with leaning on the Briar to get ya through it's still a hell of a path to walk, more power to you Brother for sticking at it, another 4 weeks and you'll never go back to the nasty things, about week 4 you'll start going NUTS with the cig' cravings, it's the old 'habit' fighting to stay, seriously, stick a matchstick between your teeth, take it out like you would a cig' and place it back between your teeth like a cig, do that for a few days then stop doing it, the chemical dependence will be defeated and the habit can be dumped easily, you'll do it Borther, well done for getting so far, you've got through the hardest part. cheers sunny

I tried to help my brother quit cigarettes by encouraging him to take up pipe smoking. It's an ongoing effort.....

Congrats to you and any one who has quit smoking. its tuff, but possible. as others have stated already, don't think that just because its been two weeks or two years that you cant have a really bad day and then a very strong craving for a cig. and at that exact moment some walks right by you smoking. and before you know it your bumming one. Trust me it happens. just stay strong and hold on.

keep up the good work!!! you can do it!!!

if you find it starting to get really bad again. I printed out pictures of lungs belonging to people who died from lung cancer due to smoking. among other pictures form the spoils of cig. smoking. I kept them in my wallet and when I need one I would look at them and 9 times outta 10 it made the craving subside. its kinda morbid but I needed visual aides to quit.
