For the most part a pipe is a tool to consume tobacco and that's how I treat most of them. However I have two that I will probably never use. One is a clay Princeton graduation pipe from 1897 that was supposed to be smoked and broken during the commencement exercises but is unsmoked and intact. The other is a meerschaum cheroot holder with real amber stem that is unsmoked from sometime in the 1800's. I have considered smoking both but just can't bring myself to do it. Am I wrong? I don't know but my gut says leave them be.

Jim

My gut agrees with your gut.
