I've got a mix of both ... I'm attracted to pipes that in some way "speak" to me ... I've got a particularly good looking Ben Wade freehand that would look utterly ridiculous with a straight stem, but also have an extremely attractive Sydney P Ram Canadian that would be nothing short of grotesque with a bent stem ...

I have more straight, but I kinda like bent more. Somehow they're more ergonomic and they clench better.

Appearance wise, i'd go for straight.

A mix of both here. I have no preference but lately I have been smoking my straight pipes more frequently.

I like Bent pipes but have mostly straights. They seem to be the least expensive ones to get a hold of. Besides I do like Straight shanks, just not quite as much as Bent stems.

I prefer bent stems. The do seem easier to clench , hold, etc. I have a mix of both. Mainly due to price. I have some excellent straight smokers, and some excellent bents. Alot depends on the tobacco. Plus, bents look cooler. Sherlock Holmes anyone?

As most know I'm pretty bent but, I do go straight ever so often.  Wink

I have a mix of both (about half and half actually)...

So, it just depends, I just want something that I can clench because I'm always doing something else with my hands when I'm piping.

I own a few of each, but I find myself leaning more and more toward at least a slight bent than a straight. It's more comfortable.

I prefer bents, but have learned to like and appreciate the straight pipes as well. I prefer a smaller bent pipe to anything else, mainly because I am a clincher

I'm pretty darn sure I have more straights than bents; however without actually counting them I can't be sure! I enjoy both. When a pipe "speaks" to me I usually buy it. Shape don't mean squat!!!!!!!! cheers FTRPLT

i smoke both and clench both. I like the "dangle" of a bent,

and i like the "attitude" of a straight poking out

different pipes, different moods i guess.

I prefer straight pipes to bent ones, I only have a couple bents in my collection. That being said, I love a little taper to my straight pipes. A perfect example would be the prince or zulu, straight with the slightest bend at the button.

I have a pretty even mix of both, but I particularly like eighth- and quarter-bent shapes.

I enjoy a pipe with a bend that is just enough to let me keep an eye on what's going on in the bowl. A Pete 999 is a good example. But I also like a pipe with a straight shank but a slightly bent mouthpiece. I have a Sav 824 fitting this description. But for visual appeal it's hard to beat a well-executed, nicely proportioned classic straight shape.

I have a couple of each and I find that sometimes my bents get a little "gurgly" from gravity pulling saliva down into the stem. This doesn't always happen, but it does if I'm doing something with both hands for an extended period while clenching my pipe. This doesn't seem to happen as much with a straight stem.

Get Bent. 95 to 5% in my collection. They just fit and I find them more comfortable as I'm a clencher.

Awesome!! Actually, with the circular bend like that it looks a little like a trumpet. The perfect pipe for me! Good call, Cart! cheers
