Please have a good thought or prayer for my friend Wayne, who lost his battle with Cancer today.

Wayne was the farmer who took our spent grain for over 16 yrs at my brewery, and was the most reliable farmer I've ever had the pleasure of working with. Beyond that he was very personable, a bit of a character, loved to BS, had a wealth of stories (some very colorful), and he was my friend.

He went downhill very suddenly. Only a few months ago he was just his normal self. What an awful terrible thing this Cancer is.

The world will be a far worse place without Wayne. I'll miss him. He was like a brother.

Sad

No Cheers,

RR

My Condolences...

At least he didn't struggle with cancer for years and years. Many times that is a blessing.

Condolences, BD. It's always tough when it happens so fast - better to have not had the suffering, but never enough time to say goodbye (but I guess there never really is, I suppose).

Thoughts and prayers, my friend.

I appreciate all the kind words all.

Wayne was a unique individual. Very old school.

No cell phone, internet, or other "modern" trappings. Came up as a logger when this region was defined by timber. Forced into retirement when the logging biz went south.

Cows were his hobby and passion. Kept a couple dozen head, just enough to keep him busy and in beef but not enough to make it financially viable as a business. He liked it like that, and our spent grain did much to reduce his spending on feed. I've worked with many farmers over the years, and Wayne was 100% reliable and always available if we got in a jam.

He also lived very simply. Burned his own wood for heat which he split himself, drilled his own new well a few years ago, always paid cash for everything. Had a great sense for being BS'd and was a great negotiator.

Beyond that he loved his family, friends, and life. He always had a great outlook on everything, very positive. One of his most often repeated phrases was "I enjoy a little bit of everything each day". This seemed to be his mantra, and while I've heard it at least a hundred times it makes perfect sense to me. Even more so now.

Wayne helped me out many times with issues concerning my property, vehicles, and much more. And expected nothing in return. He was a wealth of information.

They don't make men like Wayne anymore. He was an original. And the world is a far worse place without him.

Crying or Very sad

Cheers,

RR
