PostSubject: Lost another good man   Mon Sep 22, 2014 10:17 pm

Late last night I got word that one of my oldest and dearest friends suffered a major heart attack Sat.

Len and I were in a band back in the early 70's in Mil, WI. He was a gifted musician and terrific bass player. We lost touch after he moved a few years later, but much to my surprise I found he was living a few miles from me here in WA state about 10 yrs ago.

We re-connected and started playing music together again. He hadn't lost any of his chops and he contributed significantly to several of my CD projects. He also had a great home recording studio, and about 2 yrs ago embarked on a new project of mine.

Apparently he had chest pains all last week but didn't go to the doctor. When he finally went to the ER Sat it was too late and he died there.

I'm just devastated and can't take it in. He was only a few yrs older than me. And on the heels of losing our farmer at the brewery last week this is especially hard.

Difficult times right now. Very sad.

Crying or Very sad

No Cheers,

RR

Condolences to you my friend. It's small solace, just remember you had a few more years after reconnecting.

Dang, Rande. I am deeply saddened for your loss. You are in my prayers. We just buried my wife's grandfather today and my great-grandmother on Saturday. So, I know how it can go sometimes.

My heart feels for you brother. I've been there. I lost my Djedo (grandfather) and my Dad 9 days after one another.

As always, we're all here to listen to and talk with you.

Happened to my Uncle the same way. Why do us guys always procrastinate on going to the doctor?

I am sorry for your losses.

Yes, I've often wondered about that myself. Perhaps it's the directive that we have all seemed to be programmed with to "man up and deal with it". And I'm no different in that respect.

Len was a connection to my (our) past when we were in the prime of our lives and on top of the game, music-wise. Or at least we believed.

After we re-connected we both realized that the spark was still there, the creative process, and especially the enjoyment of what we both could bring to the table. Even after a 30+ yr absence.

We both had a kind of second sense about each other's styles, that we always seemed to know what the other would be playing and try and compliment it. Those kinds of musicians are far and few between, in my experience.

Len was a total professional, a fine gentleman, and an old and trusted friend. We both married young in the early 70's. He was still married to his wife of 42 years and had 2 grown sons, both of which were accomplished musicians in their own rite. They had a great influence.

Many are the experiences I've been remembering these past days, from when we were in our prime. Too much to type, and it would come out insufficient in any case. Some were pretty interesting!

RIP Len.

No Cheers,

RR

Rande,
I'm not sure how i missed this thread so apologies mate.
I'm deeply saddened by your loss Rande. Len sounded like a fine chap who you shared great times with. Music can connect people in ways that others may never experience so this must be doubly hard for you.
Here's to a special friendship.
Thinking of you,
No pip pip.
