PostSubject: The Butcher in the Belfry:::October BOB Bombing Mission   Sun Oct 05, 2014 2:22 pm

::::ATTENTION BOMBERS::::

Some of you grizzled veterans may recall October as a month that doesn’t quite follow SOP. There will be a normal run taking place this month, but in addition to the usual festivities, Central Command has cooked up a special little event. This event is completely voluntary. Participation is not required, however there are some potential rewards.

Here is how this will proceed:

If you’d like in on the normal run this month follow procedure and respond in this thread. This month's theme will be Halloween. Feel free to include a menagerie of spooktacular treats for our unsuspecting victim. (Candy corn and spider web make excellent packing material...I'm kidding...maybe farao )

If you’d like to participate in the special October event also indicate that in your reply. Do not assume an “I’m in” on the run implies you’re in on both.

Please pm me with any questions.

Now, please allow me to set the stage for our October fun:

It was a dark and stormy night. Our courageous pilots had just returned to HQ after the successful obliteration of Fr_Tom’s bunker. He had held out for nearly a week of shelling, finally succumbing to the coup de grace of pilot d4klutz’s trusty Fokker. This was certainly cause for celebration, and as the weather turned fowl, our heroes took to the great hall to retell the stories of their past triumphs, all over the finest pipe tobacco and the most soothing libations, of course. Out came the pipes, lighters, mason jars, bottles, leather packs and tampers, all strewn across a vast table with scarcely room between.

As their merriment increased, the sound of the storm grew even more terrible, yet our courageous pilots, full of spirits and veiled in clouds of fragrant smoke, didn’t seem to notice. Suddenly the lights began to dim and flicker, then with a terrific clap of thunder, extinguished altogether.

Never being a group predisposed to sloth, the valiant squadron sprang into action. Blackhorse managed to find some candles with the dim light from one of the ubiquitous pipe lighters in the room and had soon distributed them to the most strategic positions to shed a soft, warm glow on their surroundings.

“This will never do!” exclaimed d4klutz, “I must see to my Fokker at once.”

“Good idea,” said co-commander Ocelot55, “but take Fatman and Pozzska with you. They know a thing or two about that kind of equipment.”

“In the meantime,” opined co-commander DrumsAndBeer, “Drt999, gravel, BigCasino, and I will see if we can get the generator started.”

Just then there occurred another tumultuous roar of thunder and a flash of lightening so brilliant that there was no need for the feeble flicker of the candles. Out of the roar the bombers began to hear the most maniacal laughter coming from someplace concealed in shadow.

“What was that?!” asked juanmedusa with trepidation.

A grave look came over the faces of the older pilots. They had been in this position before.

“There’s a Butcher on the loose, it seems,” said Ocelot55 with a stern look. “Now it’s up to us to see who it is and how we catch him before we all end up dead.”

Ladies and Gentlemen, the 2nd Annual BOB Murder Mystery is about to begin!

Oh! The lights went out!

Simple Man and I will take the faulty flickering flashlight and go down to the basement to check out the fusebox...which is on the way far side away from the stairs. You know, where all those sharpened garden tools and stuff are kept. Don't worry about us, I'm sure we'll be just fine. Just to be safe we'll split up.

Man! It sure is cold down here. And, what's that rank smell? Whew!

Did you hear something?

Simple Man! You there? Simple Man???

"Well, it ought to wink at me, that's my own damn eye. I must have knocked it out on one of those sharp garden tools... oh well, I better go take care of the fuse box... there! That ought to do it!"

As light was restored to the mansion, Simple Man noticed that the flesh was quickly rotting off of his hands and arms... "Damn, what was in that tub?!? FELLAS, HELP ME!!!"

Too late. The puddle of melted sludge over there behind that curtain is what used to be Simple Man. But then, ya never know what's gonna happen around here. Maybe one of his fellow wizards can conjure up a way to reanimate him, or something.
