Not real good at these things but I figured I'd stop in and say hey anyhow!

I'm kinda new to piping! Got my first pipe about 5 or so years ago and due to my lack of understanding regarding how to properly break-in a new pipe, pack it properly and then keep it lit, gave up rather shortly thereafter.

A couple of months back, I got back into piping again after stumbling across a few You Tube piping videos and dug out the old pipe and the big bag of Black Cavendish I'd originally bought with it at the discount tobacco store and tried it again. Found out that I rather liked it this time around (once I knew what I was doing or at least doing wrong) and over the last few months have added 6 more pipes to the collection and a nice little collection of tobaccos as well.

Actually, I like this disease so well in fact, that I am considering using my woodworking skills to start making my own pipes - more fun and probably cheaper too, as this whole pipe-acquisition thing might end up getting me in trouble with the wife! Then again most of my hobbies tend to be on the expensive side and keep me in hot water with the missus!

Anyhow, I'm 45, married with kids, a grandfather, ride classic Harley's, play in a local country band, drive trucks for a living and am working on a culinary arts degree! Not much more to say other than: I hope to learn more about the art of manliness when it comes to smoking a pipe!

Thanks for looking!

Scott

Cheers,

Hey Scott welcome to BoB. Glad you picked up that pipe again and that it's working out this time.

Patience, learning from one's mistakes and perseverance always pay off big time in this hobby.

Thanks gentlemen, looking forward to my time on this esteemed site. To answer the reoccurring question, I am a bass player by trade specifically, although I do play a variety of other instruments! Perhaps this delve into the world of pipes and tobaccos will last as long as my musical career has - more than 25 years and counting!

Hey Scott, welcome to the Bob. New to pipes as well, and have already learned a ton from these guys and gals. Reading old post and asking questions (never once received a snarky reply to any of my question), has been quite beneficial for me.
