PostSubject: Blowing a bit of depressed/annoyed steam.    Thu May 21, 2015 2:29 pm

I think most everyone that's been here a minute know I'm going through some major issues with my back and legs.. I go to visit the surgeon again early next month.. Just a miserable prick in general.

Well today they put my wife under for the first of many procedures to come, won't go into to much detail there as I'm not sure just how willing she is to have that public...but she's been putting this stuff off for as long as the doctor would allow and today was the last day he would allow. So my only job is to sit in a waiting room for 3-4 hours until they can get her woke up and all that jovial niceness. Anyway I realized I'm not even fit enough to wait patiently in a waiting room. I ended up in a frikken patient bed. I can't believe this shit.. How the heck can you not be fit enough to wait in a waiting room. I'm feeling less than useless. She's up and running and running like a top trying to take care of me... Damn.

If you pray please whisper one for us, if you don't I guess just smoke a bowl and send some good vibes Kentucky way if you will.

As a fellow back pain sufferer I feel your pain, literally. As a MRI Tech, I see folks in pain daily, and know how difficult just sitting can be. You got my sympathies man. I will blow some clouds of smoke skyward and send positive vibes your way!

Hey PB I'm adding you and your wife to be included in my prayers.

Best wishes to you Brother, I too have chronic back pain and have had surgery for it, so I can surely empathize. I will also blow a little smoke your way to be sure.

I go through this most everyday when I try and do just a little out in the shop or around the property.
After awhile it's just the norm but, ya havta do what ya havta do cause ya see the old woman here can't do much of anything since her stroke. So we rest and look to the next day as a better one but, if we rest too long the same thing happens, it's just figuring out what you can do and for how long and take advantage of it. We'll say a prayer but, coming from such a dishonest fellow like myself I don't reckon it'll mean much. Wink

Dang Brandon, sorry to hear that so much is getting piled onto the both of you at once. Makes it hard to take care of each other in that situation. I will say a prayer for the both of you, but I am in the heathen club alongside Ron. Maybe since we are praying for someone else besides ourselves, it may do some good.

PB, hang in there man.

I can sympathize, I had back surgery in 2012. I had fierce sciatic pain and I am still dealing with long term nerve damage.

Hopefully your surgeon can help you get some relief.

Drums, I think I knew that, but I can't remember. 13 months of Percocet and Lyrica screw the memory banks.

Of course constant back pain from the missing l2/l3. Plus. Bilateral femoral cutaneous neuropathy, perineal neuropathy, sciatica, numbness, and according to the IME dr probable further blown disc. Like its collapsing or something. Crazy stuff. I think they just need to take me out behind the shed and put me down.

Wow man, that's intense. Was there are reason why the doctors didn't opt for a prosthetic disc? I am assuming that they did a complete l2/l3 diskectomy..

I had a partial micro-diskectomy but my neuropathy was lateral and the neurosurgeon was opting for the most conservative option.

But I'd sit down for a spell, car ride, play the drums, whatever and my right leg would go completely numb. It wasn't until the disc ruptured (l5/s1) that I couldn't sit, stand or lay down. No position provided relief, it was a living hell. No pain killer on the market could touch the pain, save morphine.

Anyway, I can only imagine what you're dealing with. There's nothing quite like nerve pain.

Here's to hoping that you find yourself in the hands of a competent surgeon and on the mend..

Short version: Basically work comp approved a discetomy and that's all he was going to do. Never mind the fact that the disc blew itself out of the incision before he ever had a chance to remove it... Later on, When he realized I had studied enough to know that all my current problems stem from L2/L3 nerve damage and lack of support he went straight to defensive medicine. He handed me off to pain management. PM basically came up with a spinal chord simulator implant. Work Comp flipped a biscuit and tried to IME me out of the system. IME Dr was on the phone with work comp demanding I immediately see another surgeon. So here I sit, waiting, wondering, hurting.

PB...the only way in your scenario you would be "useless" is if you didn't give a shite that you couldn't sit in the waiting room waiting for your wife. The fact that it bother you so much (aside from the pain aspect) that you couldn't wait it out shows that you care and that you want to be there for your wife.

Prayers and great karma for you and your wife. I hope you both find good health soon.

Sorry to hear Brother!
Workman's Comp blows donkey dick! Evil or Very Mad
I am dealing with back and neck issues too.
The neck and back locked up really bad a few weeks ago and I was out of work for nearly a week. The job wants to know why I'm blowing through my sick leave! I guess they can't figure out I have been dealing with this crap for nearly five years now since I was hit by a hit and run driver while I was on duty. Amazing how the system doesn't work as it is supposed to and even more amazing is the lack of caring and concern from the job, Workman's Comp, the Doctors, etc etc etc......

Hopefully things will get better and they will be able to fix you up and stop the pain! Maybe they can talk to these guys......

PB, Sir, that is dreadful. I must say I share Mozjo's views though; you may have struggled physically to support your wife, but by the pure virtue that you were there despite considerable pain, your positive intent was clear for all to see.

My wife is a long term back pain sufferer, though not to the same degree as yourself I hasten to add, so I can begin to emphasise for you.

My thoughts are with you both PB mate. Smoke rings coming your way...
