PostSubject: Prayers for my brother   Fri Jan 04, 2008 11:20 am

Hey guys...
I would appreciate thoughts and prayers for my brother. He had a heart attack last night (his second in four years). The same artery that was blocked last time was completely blocked. Two stints...he should be going home in a few days.

I saw him in the ER and it was really scary. He was in so much pain, could barely breathe, was crying...I could tell he was scared to death.

The doc said he needs to change some things...I hope and pray he will.

Thoghts and prayers for your brother, and those who will need to be supportive during the recovery. It's easy to forget that those who are there for the person suffering need reinforcements, too. Take good care of you.

All the research indicates that changes to diet and lifestyle can do remarkable things to enhance recovery, and help to minimize the risk of further cardiac events. It's not an easy thing for most people to deal with, especially the diet part. He'll need the help of his family and friends. It's remarkable what a good support system can do.

Prayers and best wishes are on the way for your brother and for you, Mike. I hope with all my heart that he pulls through in good shape, and can modify those behaviors that will keep him around for a long time to come. I've lost both of my brothers and sincerely hope you don't have to endure the same heartache any time soon.

Thanks for letting us know, Mike, and God bless you and yours.

Mike,

My brother just went through valve replacement surgery. I know where you are right now.

Best wishes for you, your brother and all family members and friends.

My brother is doing great and has made many changes, including ending a 50 year relationship with Camel cigs.He is back to being a big pain in the ass again.

Father, I pray right now in the name of Jesus that you would let your love, mercy and grace rain down on Mike's brother as well as Mike and all of his family. Lord comfort them and give them strength in their time of need and that through their need you will be glorified in their time of plenty and joy! Most especially father, I pray the you would touch Mike's brother's body with your healing touch from the top of his head to the souls of his feet. Make his heart stronger than ever even now as we pray. Thank you Lord for the goodness that you have already set in motion. In Jesus name I pray, and we all agree. Amen!

Mike, please keep us updated. God be with your brother, you and all of your family.

We will include your brother on our prayer list at church. You have to have and show faith. I've had two attacks, in 2001 and in 2004, and I know that prayers got me through. Please keep us informed of his condition.

PostSubject: Re: Prayers for my brother   Tue Jan 08, 2008 7:22 am

I want to thank everyone for the thoughts and prayers offered here. This is why we are truly "brothers" of the briar.

My brother Wayne is out of the hospital, and feeling much better. He told me he gave away the carton of cigs he had just bought, and says he is setting them down for good.

He also understands the importance of taking his cholesterol and blood pressure medicine regularly, and changing his diet. I don't know which is going to be harder for him, the cigarettes, or the diet. But I really do think this was a wake up call for him, and I pray he heeds it.

Thanks again for the comments, thoughts, and prayers. I really appreciate it more than you know.

Mike
