The GREATEST jazz Saxaphone player has died at 85 today ! I saw him play many times down here in Ft. Worth during the late '60s. It's a sad day in the music world ! Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

Sad news. I saw him a couple decades ago in San Francisco. Thankfully he was playing more straight-up stuff that night.

I always loved the "Tomorrow is the Question" record. Didn't care much for Free Jazz, still don't. Nonetheless, Ornette Coleman was a true pioneer in jazz.

RIP

My introduction to his work was the soundtrack to Naked Lunch. I didn't realize who it was and looked for years to find music like that. I then found his music and then a few years later found out he had done that soundtrack.

While my music was very different his approach influenced me greatly while I was playing out. Was very sad back when I heard this.
