PostSubject: Keep an eye open for me   Thu Jul 09, 2015 11:21 am

Somehow, in the grand scheme of things, I have found that I fall into some pretty amazing situations. I mean sure, I can gripe about my job, the hours I work, not having enough money, so on and so forth... BUT, I can honestly say that I'm employed with a job that pays enough for me to cover my bills, I don't ever go without anything, and I have great family and friends around me.

One other thing I can now add to the list of 'stuff to be grateful for' is a side job that really plays up to my hobbies.
I've been writing articles for the NASPC newsletter (The Pipe Collector) for a couple of years now, and through that connection, I've landed a spot in Pipes & Tobaccos magazine, working alongside Tad Gage and his tobacco reviews, as a tobacco 'sommelier'; for every tobacco that's reviewed in the column, I get to write my own description of the blend, and then offer my suggestions to what would pair well with said blend, be it alcoholic or non-alcoholic.

I can honestly say I never expected this opportunity to fall into my lap, but I'm sure grateful for it! And for those of you who read Pipes & Tobaccos, keep an eye out for my name!

I am a charter subscriber and will keep an eye out for and look forward to your contribution! Will you be replacing Joe? He's a friend and a guy who has helped me build my collection over the years. As a one trick pony I've always admired Joe, Tad and Bill Serad's seasoned palates over the years. Shocked

Rob, it is a fantastic effort on the part of all who are involved, and really affordable as well. I'm always anxious to get my latest copy out of the mailbox!

Thank you all! I'm definitely looking forward to it!

Dave, I will be replacing Joe, though I know those are pretty big shoes to fill. Not sure how I got this, as I've always thought Tad and Joe and the rest were about three orders of magnitude higher than me in experience, taste bud sensitivity, and sheer understanding of blends and tobacco.

Regardless, I'm definitely stoked about this opportunity.

Congratulations with your new gig. I haven't read the magazine in years (the issue with Jerry Lee Lewis was the last one I bought). Let us know when your first reviews come up and I will check the magazine again.
