Hi folks,

I've recently restored a Rossi Sterling military mount pipe which came from an estate collection of pipes purchased between the late 1960s and early 2000s. I know Rossi went out of business in 1985 and subsequently the brand was purchased by Savinelli who now uses the Rossi marque as a seconds line.

The sterling mount makes me wonder if this is a pre-1985 pipe, as the current Savinelli/Rossi lineup does not have any silver mounted pipes, but I don't have any documentary evidence to support my theory. The stummel does have 2-3 tiny fills in the briar, but I don't know if this is typical of original Rossi pipes or not.

Anyone know more about Rossi pipes who can fill in the gaps for me?

You can see the pipe and restoration here

That;s one helluva resto job bro!! Savinelli/Rossi used a 4 digit style numbering system prior to 1975 so if it has 4 digits you can be pretty close to it;s age. Again, a DAMN FINE piece of work bro !! cheers cheers

Thank you, sir! I think it came out pretty well Very Happy

This one is marked with a shape # 167, so I guess this is likely a Savinelli-era Rossi.

The current Sav/Rossi lineup doesn't have any silver-mounted pipes; it would be interesting to know when/if Savinelli ever did offer one. I'd guess early in the post-acquisition years.

Thanks again,

Thanks! I wasn't sure when I started the work what I might find underneath the muck. Laughing
