National news paints a very grim picture of the flooding in S. Louisiana.

Our Thursday/Friday rain total was 12.11" in my gauge.
It was like a damn hurricane without wind.
The thing had circulation; it just circled and rained and rained.

How are you fairing? And anyone else from this area?

Shocked

Cheers,

Had a bit of water in a business location, but it couldda been lots worser.  Twisted Evil
Wouldda taken another three feet to get in the house.

But like I said, I got just over a foot; some areas got more than twice that.

And how are you fairing now?

Doesn't Bradley (Cajun) live in the crosshairs too?

Water is higher now than before, but not likely to rise much more.

I hope you and the family are safe. Any damage to your property? I don't know much about your area except what I've seen on TV. I'd be scared crapless about snakes and crocagators. affraid

Our Seattle rag had some aerial shots of the flooded areas, and mentioned Ascension Parish specifically. They compared it to Katrina.

Thought of you right away Herm. Looked pretty dire!

No

My house is on a high spot. I had at least three feet to spare,
but it was a lake across the road. Road impassable.
I'm pretty surprised that I didn't see any critters, not even snakes.
Over 70% of homes in Livingston Parish are flooded; mebbie 20% of those have flood insurance.
Not like Louisiana never flooded, but it hasn't flooded like this in recent history.
Baton Rouge never flooded like this. They also have "Undocumented Shoppers" on the prowl.
