It was with a sad heart my Levi left us today, a wonderful friend and companion who will be missed.

Dogs (and cats, donkeys, etc) can touch our lives in such odd ways. Family, but not people. They can be the best of friends. Sad when they go. Never forget them, and they live on.

Man that's a crushing blow, but it's also a testament.
Those little guys get in your heart and become family.
The way I've been able to push through is to remember:
They were with you for just awhile, you were with them all their life.
They take that unconditional love deal pretty seriously.

Couldn't have said it better. Best wishes to you and all Levi left behind.

Ah, jeeze Banjo, I'm saddened to read this. In the short time I've known you through the BoB I've come to learn that you were both such a large part of each others' lives.

Moved on but never forgotten.

My thoughts are with you mate.

No pip pip,

Stick.

I decided long ago that the unequal lifespans of dogs and humans is probably the single greatest flaw in the Universe.

The only solution is not to dwell on it, but get another puppy ASAP. Very Happy Besides bringing on the delight, they'll keep you too damn busy to think about much else for a while. Laughing

I feel your pain Mr. Banjo. I've lost many 4-legged family members over the years and it's gut wrenching when their time on this earth comes to an end.

Remember the good times, and know Levi is beyond all pain and suffering. He'll live in your heart forever.

And I agree with LL, adopting a new buddy will help heal your heart.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Cheers,

RR

It always saddens me when I hear of a partner passing on.

Pictures and memories keep Levi by your side.

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss Sante. Our furry family members give us some of the happiest days of our lives and it is never easy when we have to say goodbye.

Thank you all for your thoughtful replies. I still feel his presence and actually feel him watching me, it is startling at first because the reality is he's gone but comforting knowing certain things bring his spirit back with a happy memory. I know it's too early since his passing to simply try to get back to normal but there were too many things we did that make it hard with he not being there to share with us, warm regards.
