So I just discovered in a dark closet a 100 gram can of St. James Woods with the date code 320800 on the bottom of the can. Does this mean it's 16+ years old? I swear I bought it no longer than two years ago from an online retailer, either SP or 4Noggins. Pardon my ignorance, but I've never paid attention to aging tobacco weed, unless something drops in my lap like this.

(Also found some Tilbury and Dunbar from 2012 that I forgot was there. Think I need to get organized, or would that take the fun out of it?)

If the code you found is not a lot number I would read that date as....
March 2nd, 08. That would make it 9 years old and a great find. Hope you enjoy.... cheers cheers cheers

Richard, this is what was posted here a few years ago on how to read the codes. Wink

McClelland 1st 2 digits = product ID 3-4th digits = batch code 5th - 6th digits = year tinned.

Mac Baren (old method) AABBCCCD (A = Machine) (B = Year) (CCC = Calendar Day linear number) (D = Shift)

Mac Baren (new method) - date printed on can

Assumed:

Dunhill/Orlik - yymmXXXX? (vertical left, next to UPC)

Peter Stokkebye (branded/variations) yymmXXXX? (vertical left, next to UPC)

Yuppers, that's 16 year old weed there! Probably no good any more. Might as well send it to me for proper disposal....

That should be a great tin of baccy. St. James Woods is excellent fresh, I can only imagine how it must be aged... I have a few tins I'm setting aside for my future self.

Hope it's good for you!
