 Author Challenge - Bruyere Extra Restoration

I've been fairly picky on my recent estate purchases and restorations, choosing pipes that didn't require a lot of effort. This one looked appealing shape-wise, but I knew it would present some challenges. I didn't find out much about this brand, as there are numerous makers who have used the Bruyere name over the years (mostly Hunter/Tyrolean style pipes it seems).

Despite the heavy cake and filthy shank, it smokes quite well. Of course it was soaked in alcohol for a period to remove the stain, so that usually does banish any ghosts. It's a tad heavy by my tastes, at 50 grams but the draw was perfect.
