They all need a good cleaning, but for $3 each I thought I could take a chance on them.  The one on the left is a Barling's Make Ye Olde Wood, the middle is a Dunhill Tanshell with very worn markings, and the one on the right is a 1963 group 2 Dunhill Shell Briar.

You made an impressive score. Those look quite clean-uppable. Why can't this happen to me? I'm lucky to find beat-up, chewed-up Medicos with cracked shanks and insect larvae in the draft hole. I do believe, in my case, that I would send those to a pro--one that WILL NOT round off the stems at the shank junction. Those still look crisp.

Excellent score there, I'm in Richard's camp, normally only finding crusty no name pipes. Doesn't stop me looking though. Smile

Cheers,

Tim

I am definitely visiting the wrong flea markets. The last one I visited I found some nice wire seal jars for .50 each (swell for tobacco storage) and a nearly new shovel for $2.00. Someone was also selling what looked like a lifetime supply of National Geographics. Lucky me.

Yumpin' Yiminy! No $3 Dunnies at the flea markets around me!

I'd love to see those after you get them tidied up. Great finds!

No chance in hell of finding those sort of scores around my parts. You are very lucky dog!

Cheers,

It was definitely a bit of luck, especially since I only go to a flea market once a year at the local annual tractor show.  I was looking for a table vise and found two 1960s Dunhills...go figure.  The Tanshell does have a dark spot on the outside of the bowl but the inside looks fine.

Fantastic, good eye! I'll look forward to seeing them restored! Bent Barling's are pretty rare, that may be the best find in the bunch!

Thank goodness for oxidation, eh? GREAT score. I'm a bit envious. That small 120-esque Dunhill is a nice one. I adore that shape.
