Picked up a Cellini Freehand. Neat history regarding their pipes. The pipe arrived today and I was/am rather surprised. I cannot believe how big this pipe is! This pipe is huge, much, much bigger than I anticipated. Beautiful though, but damn it's big. I will never own a larger pipe than this Cellini. I will also never be able to smoke a whole bowl of tobacco with it.

Just made a leather strap display stand. The Cellini is now on display on top of the book case. My wife said it would make a great conversation piece. When I opened the box she asked, Why did you buy that? I said, I had no idea it was this big. It has some really nice straight grain.

Yup, agree.... we would like to see a few pictures of the pipe you've described. Why leave us all in suspense.

Remember an old adage " a picture is worth a thousand words ".

Here is the ebay link from where I purchased it. Scroll down and you can see photos. The photos do not give an appropriate scale on just how big this thing is. I also did not pay the price listed. Made a lowball offer and it was accepted. It's definitely worth what I paid.

Thank You for posting the photo, appreciate it.

The photo does not do this pipe justice for showing the size/scale of it. I wear Extra Large gloves and this pipe completely fills up my palm when holding it.

Are Freehands typically larger than average?

Not when compared to a house or a truck. I know you said the photo is deceptive, but judging by the stem, it's kind of average for any freehand I've seen. Put a dollar bill next to it and snap a photo. (You don't need a third party to post pics here, other than the one built into this site.)

I'm usually not a Freehand pipe lover but I will say the one you purchased caught my eyes immediately, nice piece of briar. Even the Freehand work that was done too the shank, I think that's why I really like the pipe. You really got a deal on that pipe. Enjoy for many years to come cheers

Bigger is better. Lol

I could use one even bigger than this one. ( that's what she said). That's why I want a Boswell Grizzly.

Thanks for the nice compliments, it is a nice looking pipe. Gathering from the comments I am concluding that free hands are larger than the average bear. It weighs 3.58 ounces. My next largest pipe now is right around 2 ounces, so that tells you how big it is to me. I actually prefer pipes in the 1 to 1.5 ounce range.

I've had a couple of Cellini's and they are good smokers. They made a lot of nice pipes. That one will be a great, alllll day, smoke! Enjoy.
