Crikey Arky, this is turning out to be a really philosophical week for you... old friends and now reflecting on what has been.

But I'm with you, friend. I think it's important to reflect on the paths you've trod and consider how you've arrived where you are. What can you learn and would you do anything differently? It's all too easy to beat oneself up over the less positive choices we've made, but it's important to remember that we make the best decisions we can based on the information that we have at the time.

So, no, I don't think it's crazy to look back at where and how you used to be. What would be crazy is if we didn't learn from our experiences.

Think on brother...

Arky,
I think everyone is different.  Most likely due to the type of work I did, there is not much to look back upon for me to get a laugh. What use to be very important to me in life, will never be again! When you get a little older you'll understand what I mean. Your young, enjoy life to the fullest you are capable of and now your at the age too also achieve your goals in life!!
Put your loved ones first and with God's will everything will fall into place.

I feel you... I look back and I can remember the great and the difficult times. I look in the mirror and see scars and tattoos, each of which speak of stories from different chapters of my life. It is good to look back and remember, but it's more important to keep your eyes on the horizon as you aren't done traveling yet. Take the good, shrug off the not so good and be thankful for every single day you are granted. Be kind, be humble and always try to make the world a brighter place.

Some good advice, right there. I really am thankful for each day that I am on this side of the sod. Cool

True statement and that's also how I feel, started at a young age. Now, can you imagine if the other 98% of humanity felt the same way!!

WHAT A BETTER WORLD IT WOULD BE!!!

"Today is going to be a good day to have a good day!" Then I try to stick to that. I don't know how many good days I have left.

That's funny. These days I run a bit Oglala Lakota. A quote from Crazy Horse, later coined by Worf, a Klingon.....

Today is a god day to die!

I believe the idea was to exclaim that that moment, as every moment requiring clarity and honourable exercise, is a good day to perform or burn your light at the best it can. I think it says somewhere in some book, that every moment should be appreciated as much as being the first as being our last. To live in the moment, and be the truest we can offer. To paraphrase, "All bullshit aside"............

Now I have to clean the coffee off my monitor.

Otherwise, I hear you, arkansaspiper. If somebody had told me 30 years ago that I would someday be living where I live and doing what I do today, I would have thought they were crazy.

"Live each day as though it were your first." Thought this was original with me--a quick Google search proved otherwise...sigh. And then there's this:
