As an ex-pat Cheesehead I'm well familiar with ice fishing and driving your vehicle out on the lake to drill holes for your tip-ups. But it seems Minnesota has taken this to the next level-

Some of those lakes get so crowded that they establish streets and addresses so people can find their own huts.

Looks like a good time.

But If I am going out for a beer in sub-zero weather at a bar with a frozen floor, I want something better than Bud Light. Wink

Great film, very entertaining, but not sure it's my bag. I prefer to get away from that sort of thing. Commercialisation of nature Suspect Question

I'd certainly frequent that pub, but not sure I'd go for the minnow shots!

So, there's no wood burning stove in the bar? Laughing

When I lived in New Hampshire, I used to drive my car on the frozen Lake Winnipesaukee. It was a lot of fun spinning around on the lake until I couldn't maneuver properly and slammed into an ice fishing hut! It was a good thing
nobody was in side at the time cause it got smashed! I didn't hang around to see if anyone noticed and I got off the ice as quickly as I could! When I got back to the house, I checked out the damage to my car. It wasn't as bad as I thought. I was very lucky.

I clearly remember going out for ice fishing on Pewaukee lake (west of Ma-wa-kee) in the early '60's with my Pap. I was around 10 at the time iirc.

I was bundled up in a snow suit that all but restricted movement. Thermal underwear, several pairs of socks, woolly mittens with three fingers, hood with Russian style hat w/ear flaps, etc. And I was still colder than a well diggers azz!

The wind that came down across the lake seemed to pick up more freezing temps than the ambient might suggest. I hated it!!

I also had cramp-on's for my feet as the ice surface was not covered by snow. Therefore it was slick as snot. All to say that it was not a particularly pleasant experience!  Mad

From that point on I determined that ice fishing was not for me!

Suspect

Cheers,

RR
