I was SUPPOSED to get mine in the mail yesterday, according to tracking. It did not arrive. Disappointment abounds!

I placed an order for one but at Smoking Pipes (USPS Super Saver for 2 bucks and some). $11.50 at Missouri Meerschaum for shipping to Canada as the sole option is over kill for a Cob costing $24.  Rolling Eyes

And, if I still experience the same awful aftertaste issues detailed in my other thread, I will simply keep it for its good looks. lol! lol!

Being new to cobs, I have a quick stupid question. Can I assume I should sand away the bit of lacquer in the top of the bowl? Not sure if they use some kind of food safe lacquer, etc.

I never gave that a thought. I just filled 'er up with tobacco and started smoking! After about 6 or 7 bowls of Carter Hall I moved on to other tobaccos. So, I wouldn't worry about it. Very Happy

Thanks, friends! I appreciate your guidance.

Was gonna give it a grand initiation tonight out on the deck, but thunderstorms had other plans...

Finally giving the Cobbler its inaugural run with some C&D White Lightening. Nice pipe, off the bat. Sturdy, and weighty for a cob. The stem is great. This tobacco, however, has quite a bite!

The stem is what probably gives it the weight. Wink

I always sand the rims free of lacquer and errant stain, then use 220 sandpaper to smooth the chamber out a touch.

But that's just me......
