Don Winslow is one of my favorite authors, and I thought that I had already read his catalog. But, I recently found "A Cool Breeze On the Underground", one of his earlier books. So far, its an excellent read with a NYC setting vs his usual So-Cal surroundings.

"Simple Foods" by The great James Beard. Fascinating book that is essentially a collection of food and cooking essays that he wrote for the American Airlines in-flight magazine American Way.

Yeah, it was really good. I just finished it. I will warn you that it takes some work, but I would say it was worth it. If you do decide to tackle it, make sure you read the endnotes as you go along.
