I had meant to add that I opened an identical pouch a while back and it was still moist and fresh like it was only a few weeks old. I expect the one I put in the box should be the same.

Great pass Hunter!

Not a problem on the old Walnut. I am still working on the sample that you sent. Thanks! The jury is still out! Very Happy

And WOW! Someone will get a treat with the old pouch of Revelation! Great play!

The box has arrived safe and sound (a bit dented but none worse for wear)

Breaking it out now and planning my attack - going to be a busy week as I already see a few dozen I need to sample - really great stuff in here, both samples and sealed tins.

Just spreading things out and seeing what's here will take me an hour this evening - I will post an update once I dig in.

Grabbed out a quick bowl of Dunhill London Mixture to help hold me off for the next 30 minutes... Tin is a bit dry, but tasty nonetheless Smile

Sorted through the box - packed a bowl of Strav's Private Stock and Patriot Flake along the way Smile

Pulled out the sealed tins, and sorted the baccy into two piles - things to try, things I am familiar with already - about 50/50 - not bad at all Smile

Box on arrival:

First peek on opening:

All the sealed tins:

my "things to try" pile, open tins in the back on the left side - (sealed tins also in the picture to the right)

safe in the cooler - all the "been there, done that" tobaccos

and finally, everyone at home in the cooler (all but the sealed tins), safe and waiting to be sampled

will post an update as I smoke my way around the box...

The Patriot Flake was a bit sharp, but nice and slightly nutty. A less than careful approach led to a touch of tongue burn, but strangely enough the Strav's seemed to "miraculously" cure it. Strav's seemed nice, but unremarkable other than it's absolute smoothness (never developing, but always pleasant. Will try Strav's again to see what comes of it...

Still working - once I wrap for the night I will be taking a more serious dig into the baccy's - for now I will just pick Smile

This weekend I am planning on full devotion to the box Smile Something it most certainly deserves seeing the journey it has made and al the kind hands that have filled it...

A few more samples tried this evening...

C&D Evening Rise - only a bowl or two left, getting pretty dry - carefully sampled with a tiny meer, two bowls later and this one is on the "few tins for the cellar" list. Very nice burley based latakia blend - similar in character to a morning blend.

Dunhill Royal Yacht - Just a bit left of this one also, also quite dry, but the blend delivered - a mild sweet smoke - I can see why some cellars have a good sized stack of it. Only took one bowl in a sampling meer to get the story here, and the story is worth hearing again Smile

McClelland Bombay Court - nearly a full tin, still moist - nice, but unremarkable oriental - perhaps a few more bowls would win me over but nothing to lure me in. With so many samples ahead I am moving on

Dan Tobacco Galway - nearly full, a bit dry - an aromatic, not to my liking - fan of the flautist though Smile

Selected Bufflehead Common Teal to end the night and some tinned EMP for the morning, both in decent quantity and of good moisture level - breaking out the full sized bowls for these...

You're really killing me here posting up pictures of all that great variety, and knowing I can't get in on the pass this year..highly frustrating to say the least. Evil or Very Mad

I got included on the box pass on another pipe forum and got the box yesterday with 13 baggies about 1oz. each. I am adding another 13 baggies myself to double the size of it. It would be alot more fun adding my stash to this incredible array of tobacco.

Enjoy and be grateful you got on the list it time. Neutral

Pics of samplings and pipes thus far...

correction from above picture - EMP sampled in this pipe, not the meer...

PD is next on the list, and next to last.

----

Todays smokes quick rundown:

Common Teal finished up last night and EMP from the tin started the morning

Kismit, Uhle's #71, Veermaster, Shortcut to mushrooms during the day

Sherlock Holmes and Stonehaven set aside to finish the night

Revelation set aside for morning

- will post details when I get some time tomorrow..

Just doing my part Smile

a bevy of tastings - all quite nice - Uhle's 71 and Revelation being of special note...

Uhle's #71 - great burley based latakia mix

Shortcut to Mushrooms - interesting aromatic

some Sherlock Holmes, in a calabash (of course Smile)

rounded out the night with some Stonehaven

started the morning with some Revelation - Einstein was smart to pick up on this blend, but had he discovered Peretti's...

some Tudor Castle in my favorite VaPer pipe - very nice flake - not tops of my VaPer list, which is not surprising since it contains orientals Smile but deserving a bit of shelf space

followed by some 2045 - interesting light english

C&D Red Odessa - a little sharp and cigar-like, but a standout nonetheless - lots of flavor here

next up this evening: C&D Three Friars and Orlik Dark Strong Kentucky (the last remnants)
