| Other than looking for a well made corn cob pipe I was thinking of putting this on the top of my tobacco list. Anyone smoked this blend ? I am trying to keep the list down to a few tins at a time to try out.. Everyone says they have a corn cob. I never tried one.. Need an Oak section where the stem goes in I guess.. But the tobacco is what I really need feedback on.. Thanks.. Chuck.. |

| Uncle Tom's is kind of a typical Germain virginia, if that makes any sense. It's fairly strong, a little rough around the edges. Tasty, a little sweet but that's not a dominant flavor. Raisiny spicey virginia.
It's an interesting mixture, but I didn't ever order another tin because there are just too many tobaccos in that general sort of nature - possibly topped virginia/burley/cavendish/perique/whatever.
Similar tobaccos probably include things like Old Gowrie, McConnel Special London Mature...
Hope it helps. |

Makes sense to me Sasquatch.. I like a strong flavor when smoking a pipe.. Makes my mouth feel good. I have made a long list of interesting blends the Brothers have talked about. This one will be on the second order next month.. I shall try a small tin to see.. Thanks again.. Chuck.. |

| Like Sasquatch, I've had a tin but the only thing I remember about it is thinking that it was a very nice blend. |

Well I am going to savor each blend I think may be good.. I am finding out some of these blends will get better as the pipes get more use.. They sure are a big change from the OTC stuff I used to smoke back in the day.. Thanks Paul.. |

| Just tried it for the first time today; I found it mellow rather than mild, with a bit more N than something like Carter Hall or SWR. The tin note was very date-like (reminded me of date steam pudding), but while sweetish, this was not a sweet aro by any means. I can see why it doesn't get many very good overall reviews at tobacco reviews -- not sweet enough for many aro lovers, too mellow for many VA or VaPer fans, not complex enough for many Oriental lovers, and of course most Latakia lovers would find nothing to love. First impression was a nice everyday, middle-of-the-road smoke. I tend to smoke too fast at times, and it almost bit, but I managed to slow down and from then on it was just tasty, and with a good room note. Still, that's only a first impression; we'll see how it holds up |
