| Big news on my front: this afternoon, I closed on a house here in lovely New Haven. It's a sort-of-colonial, 1920 construction, very quirky, very vertically arranged for want of a better word. I'm still excited to have my own space, my own yard, and so on. Rather than struggle with description: Please stop by for a smoke and a beverage when you're in the area and see for yourself! There are some upgrades we'll do before moving in in earnest, but I am officially a homeowner. The time was right, financially and life-wise. Really, this should mean a PAD and TAD scaleback, but I'd be a damned liar if I didn't really see it as one big tobacco storage container right now. (Of course, I'll have a proper smoking room, in exchange for letting the Lady of the House have run over every other room in the house. A fair trade I should say.) _________________ "Never praise your Cider, Horse, or Bedfellow." -Ben Franklin

| Thank you all, gentlemen! It's going to be a "soft" move-in, with our belongings moving before our bodies (as we still have a good amount of time on our present lease, but I'm hoping by January I have pix of my study/smoking room. _________________ "Never praise your Cider, Horse, or Bedfellow." -Ben Franklin

| Congrats! There is nothing more satisfying than getting to play interior designer in your first house, especially when it has some of that old world charm which lends itself so well to creating a proper study (we have an early 1930's folk Victorian which houses what my wife refers to as the 'library', the second room I was sure to renovate and setup after doing the bedrooms on the second floor). I am surrounded by books, pipes, files, hardwood, and shelves of tobacco - could not be happier. Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy! By the way ... be sure to add glass doors to your bookcases / shelf system, you will not regret it (yes, IKEA is good for something). |

| My man room will need some... de-uglifying before it can be properly classed up. Farewell pinkish deep pile carpet; farewell faux-wood-paneling on the closet. Some tough decisions on the order of "more pipes or a nicer place to put them?" are upcoming. There'll be some Holmes influence for sure, though its size is such that even with a BB gun I won't safely be able to write VR (or should it be ER to be au courant?) on the wall. Perhaps I can convince Dad to part with his deerstalker. _________________ "Never praise your Cider, Horse, or Bedfellow." -Ben Franklin
