I was just wondering what some name brand straight razors are? I have been thinking about trying it out but don't ever mess w/ cheapo anything. So if you guys could help me out i would greatly be in your debt. Thanks

Ben

Thiers Issard, made in France. They are my prefered brand.

Dovo, made in Germany is also a nice current production razor.

Duble Duck is probably my favorite out of production brand.

Hope one of those three leads gets you headed in the right direction.

Add my vote for Thiers Issard and Dovo, in that order. I have both. I slightly prefer the Thiers for its steel, but the Dovo for its construction. Either will serve you well.

Do not skimp on your brush, or your stop, or your stone. These are essentials for getting a good shave, and maintaining the blade.

I hate shaving, but love the ritual and the tools. If I were to find that my beard had drifted into the ozone layer, I'd still lather up on occasion, and scrape away the warm foam with the back of the blade...
