Oh yes, PB ol' buddy, I'm acutely aware that whiskey from Tennessee is not Bourbon (see my earlier post on this thread)!! Without going into a too long story...My first wife's uncle-by-marriage was a VP for Schenley, way back when! Schenley bought the George Dickel rights, and old Uncle Ralph was sent down to Tullahoma to crank up the GD operation! When you visited Ralph's home, you could drink anything you wanted....as long as it was George Dickel straight or mixed with "something!!" FTRPLT

My uncle had a bar in his basement where the men of the family gathered at family functions. He kept a Crown Royal bottle full of Four Roses on hand to discourage moochers like his neighbor who liked to drop in for a free drink whenever he could.Talk about a velvet bullwhip to the tongue............. Twisted Evil

Fun Facts.... Jack Daniels, you know Tn's pride, owned by Kentuckians Very Happy Very Happy

It's hard to go into a liquor store without buying something that's owned by either Brown-Forman, Diageo, Fortune Brands or Pernod Ricard. There are lots of fun facts about who owns what and how they're marketed or made. One I think is interesting is Early Times. If it's made for the US market it's a whiskey but if it's made for export it's a true bourbon.

I bring a different bottle of bourbon each year for the annual fishing trip with my dad. We both like Maker's Mark, but any bottle that we open by the campfire after fishing all day is wonderful.

Of the ones that have been mentioned, Woodford Reserve is the only other one I've tried and it is very good. I'm already looking forward to next year's fishing trip.

Enjoying a glass of Bulliet Kentucky Bourbon (Genuine Frontier Whiskey) at the moment. A couple drams straight up in a snifter. The nose is very light and almost brandy-like, the taste is clean and has an almost scotch-like character and the finish is reminiscent of the bourbons I'm more used to - those reasonably decent name brands found on most store shelves like Turkey and Beam - but with a much softer presence. It's pretty good stuff. My own preference is for something with a bit richer flavor but this ain't bad. Just discovered that the local Trader Joes market has a nice selection of good bourbons, many that are on Toms list in his original post. Almost grabbed the Makers Mark but decided on something I'd never tried before. Gonna have to grab a bottle of MM as it's so nice I should keep a bottle in the bottom desk drawer, where a real gentleman always hides such fine libations. drunken

Hell, PD, if we could afford Makers Mark down here in Arkieland, we'd keep it on top of the desk, as a statement to our affluence and good taste. Unless, of course, if my friends are coming over, then I'd hide it, otherwise I'd have to share it and it wouldn't last long!.

I share Makers Mark with people who think they don't like bourbon.

I was listening to Colin Cowherd on ESPN radio. He was mentioning that a stripper in NYC was telling how she had the best sex with A-Rod and hoped that Madonna was experiencing the same. Colin Cowherd said if he had a bottle of bourbon, he could perform as well as A-Rod.

Does bourbon have powers like viagra?

It also keeps me from rolling out of bed in the middle of the night Smile

I've never noticed bourbon making my performance better, but I could be doing it wrong. Maybe you're supposed to dip your A-Rod in rather than drink it scratch
