PostSubject: NEW HERE AND TO PIPE SMOKING   Wed Oct 14, 2009 2:34 pm

well my name is gerald and i very much like cigar smoking. i would like to get into pipe smoke as i tried one of my friends pipes. not into the flavored but like the natural tobacos. i was introduced to some of the tobacos by a friend in ada, ok at a local cigar shop. he was telling me of some of the tobaccos and some that were in tins. cannot remember the names of certain tabaccos as i am new to this. so i could use all the pointers that are avalible and also some advice as to what kind of pipes to look for. in a tabacco i like a smooth woody nutty tabacco with just a hint of spice so please help me find that pipe and tabaco. just thought i would throw this in the cigars i like smoking are the funte hemingways and the ashton vsg (virgin sun grown) maybe that might help with tabacco selection.

Welcome Tomahawk. Judging from what you said, I'd highly recommend Frog Morton for that slightly spicey taste and a good burley for that woods, nutty taste. You'll learn a lot hanging around here.

Welcome Aboard Gerald!! Something like ol' Prince Albert might be a good place to start. There are a number of blends that have cigar leaf in them that might help you make the transition. Something like Cornell & Diehl's Habana Daydream possibly. If you don't already know it, the place to do research on the many different blends is at tobaccoreviews.com.

Welcome to BoB cheers I find that cigar smokers gravitate to English/Balkan style tobaccos very easily because of the bold flavors, later they come to enjoy VA's and Burleys.
